Design Goal:

When I met these clients they were tired of how their kitchen functioned, it lacked space and had a low ceiling with outdated lighting and poor traffic flow. On their wishlist was a fireplace for the family room and an open concept feeling with the kitchen.

Outcome:

In this kitchen remodel we used the existing space but we basically “flipped” the bar and reorganized the space by removing a wall next to the existing refrigerator, this allowed the counter for the bar to be next to the window which had a beautiful view of the golf course. Cherry cabinets with a shaker door and crown gave the space a rich look and a glass display cabinet held fiesta dinnerware. Large drawers provided more function for storage.  By eliminating the bar obstructing the traffic flow we were able to move the  refrigerator across the room and place a small communications counter next to it for the phone and cookbooks, now you can easily walk into the space from the hall. The range was offset as the client wanted workspace to the left for prep space. We removed the soffits and added can lighting with pendants over the bar. Beautiful Sonoma tiles were blended to the wall color and accented with custom Tantrum glass mosaic details. The rich colors in the Golden Jade granite gave the counters depth and texture. We also made their wish for a corner fireplace come true with space to accommodate a big screen TV.  By creating a half wall between the dining room and family room we opened the view into all three spaces, the yard and that beautiful golf course view.
